Hi Michael,
There are 3 different Bible's I can recommend that are all easily understood and great reading as follows:
(1) The "New Revised Standard Version" is an easily understandable version as it is written in today's language and is a very good translation too.
(2) I also love my "Life Application Study Bible" which is the New International Version and published by Zondervan in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This particular Bible is great as it has LOTS of really great study notes, articles & commentary telling you the history behind what your reading and how it applies to our lives today.
(3) Another of my favorites is "The Evidence Bible" compiled by Ray Comfort which you can get at http://www.LivingWaters.com. This Bible has great articles and notes pertaining to: Prooving God's existence, Answers to 100 common objections to Christianity, Shows the Bible's supernatural origin and much, much more! This is written in the New Revised Amplified King James Version and is also pretty easy to understand.
For Audio Bible's, I would recommend going to: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/audio/ - here you can choose from several different versions to listen to online which will help you figure out which version you like best and is easiest for you to understand.
Also, right now, I'm in the process of downloading "The Listener's Bible" for my Christian website. This is the New International Version and is dramatized and performed by the Fellowship for the Performing Arts! So it's like listening to the Bible in real life! I'm really looking forward to providing this for my visitors. My website is at http://www.JesusAndTheBibleToday.com and you are welcome to go there and listen to that version also. I should have it up and running hopefully in the next week. If you like it, you can contact me through the "Contact" page and, if it's possible, I will e-mail it to you. Either way, you will have access to it as soon as I get it downloaded and then put up on my site. There are also very good Video Sermons and classes that are free there too. These are great to listen to for Bible study and learning how to apply God's Word to our every day lives. They are updated daily and you can choose from 13 different channels on different topics. These too, will help you to understand the Bible better and you can not only listen to them but watch them too! It's like having Bible t.v.! :)
I hope this helps. Take care and may God Bless You Abundantly!
Your Sister In Christ,
Lisa B
