I lived many years feeling exactly like you do right now. In fact, I used to be so depressed for no apparent reason, that I actually "felt" a physical pain in my heart. I was also extremely lonely all the time, even with loved ones in my life every day. There is only one answer to what your going through right now: A very close, personal, daily relationship with God through Jesus. The closer you draw to Him, the closer He will come to you and the more joy you will experience in your life and in your heart.
You need to start with the Bible. Really study His Word every single day with the intent of getting to know Him at a personal level. We get to know Him through the life of Jesus, the Bible and through prayer. As you develop that relationship with Jesus and your Father in Heaven, you will find that He will replace your sadness with joy, your discontent with peace, and your purpose in this life will be revealed to you directly from Him.
